'They shoved latex gloves in her mouth': Nursing home workers caught abusing elderly on hidden camera

An Oklahoma City family was so convinced that employees of the Quail Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center were stealing from their 96-year old matriarch, they put a hidden camera in her room.

The video revealed a far worse situation then they had imagined - the recordings showed two employees viciously manhandling their loved one.

Lucy Waithira Gakunga, 23, and Caroline Kaseke, 28, were subsequently fired from the home and turned over to police.

'As stewards of our residents' well-being, we share in the community's outrage over these inhumane acts,' Amanda Penrod, Administrator of Quail Creek, said in a statement.

'These recent acts were individual in nature and not representative of the other 116 employees of Quail Creek who come to work everyday with integrity.'

The video footage that was handed over to police allegedly shows Gakunga shoving latex gloves into the elderly patient's mouth while Kaseke watches, according to NewsOK.

But the nursing assistants abused the woman suffering from dementia again and again.

Another instance shows Gakunga lift the patient into her bed and then push the side of her face until she laid down.

The family of the woman handed over the tape to the home, which conducted it's own investigation.

Both women were arrested Monday for neglect by caretaker.

'We also are working closely and cooperating with local authorities to handle this most unfortunate situation,' Pinard continued.

The most recent inspection of the home showed that they are the caretakers of 92 residents.
