Positive report for nursing home

A NURSING home in Banbury is meeting essential standards according to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Inspectors visited Brooklands 1, based in Old Parr Road, on March 8 to assess five key areas of its work.

The resulting report, released on Monday, indicated expected standards in all five categories were being met by the home.

Tim Taylor, operations manager at Brooklands 1, said: “We feel that the report reflects well upon the good work that is done in Brooklands 1 and Banbury should feel relieved that when the need arises there is a good nursing home in town to cater for residents with dementia.”

The care home accommodates up to 40 residents and employs 33 staff members.

Issues investigated by inspectors included staff giving appropriate care, protecting people from abuse and working in a clean environment.

The report said: “Relatives said they were happy with the care that their family members were receiving and felt that it was of a very high standard and were absolutely confident that people at the home were safe and well looked after.”

Mark Taylor, one of the home’s directors, said: “This is very good for the staff here as there is a lot of negative publicity that is often associated with care homes.”
